Your new online drumming instructor, Anthony Lane, has been a music teacher since 1979!
Credentials
Education
- Started playing drums in 1968 at age 3
- Started private lessons in the 3rd grade and completed: Joe Morello’s Rudimental Drums, Drummers Cookbook, and Haskell Harr Rudimental Snare Method by 6th grade
- Performed in School Concert and Jazz Bands from 4th grades through 12th grades.
- Won the All-Shore Band Competition in the 7th-8th grades, and 11th and 12th grades.
- Finished the Podemski’s, Goldenburg, and Wilcoxon’s 150 Rudimental Snare Solo’s, and 1/3 of the Albright Snare Drum Methods in the 9th Grade.
- Won the John Phillips Sousa and Louis Armstrong awards graduating high school
- Started Teaching in 1979 as a 9th-grade student and was teaching 8 hours weekly by 10th grade
- Started the Chesapeake Musicianship and theory courses as an 11th-grade student
- Studied Music Education, Jazz Drumset and Classical Performance for 5 years at Towson University
- Has been teaching continuously since 1979
- 100% acceptance during college auditions
- Past Students have won All-State and All-Shore Band Competitions, are performing semi-professionally, and some have full-time careers in music.
Performance History
- Was hired for my first gig at age 14 with a rock, Motown, funk band
- Performed as a freelance musician and performed in several Rock bands throughout my high school career
- Joined the 229th Army Band as a Junior at Towson University and was the 1st chair Jazz Combo and Big Band Drum set performer as well as the Mallet-Multi-Percussionist for the concert band. Performed 2x’s for the D-Day Ceremonial tour in France
- Performed with the Continentals of Washington DC for 5 years.
- Has performed in the Smithsonian, US Capital Building, and many festivals throughout the United States
- Has 30+ years of performing experience in Rock, Jazz, Blues, Andrew Llyod Weber Theater Shows, and Mallet-Multiple Percussion Shows
